About Me

music layout @ HOT FreeLayouts.com love / music / movies / frazy Hot Free Layouts I play high energy intelligent funky breakbeats, mixing a blend of the nastiest domestic and import releases. My main goal is to take any party to it's highest level, by playing tracks that move people on the dance floor. I deeply feel, adapt, and feed off of the music and the crowd I play for. Well thought out programming along with smooth and technical mixing are an integral part of my DJ style. My goal is to take listeners on a high energy roller coaster ride, in hopes hope they will remember it a positive experience for a while to come. I have played alongside big headliners such as Doc Marten, Hipp-e, Halo, Icey, Micro, and Gavin Hardkiss. I have also held multiple residencies in the southeast both in Raleigh and Durham, North Carolina and Tampa, FL. In July of 2004, I moved to Tampa, FL from Raleigh, NC in order to be as close to the pulse of the domestic breakbeat scene as possible. Now I am focussed on producing my own signature breakbeat sound, and have been producing for the past three years. Now closely affiliated with Lifted Productions, based in the Orlando area, Essence is poised to reach the masses with the unifying power of breakbeats and positive energy.I was born right outside of Paris, France in 1976. My Father is French and my mother is from New York. I moved to the United States at age 4, but spent summers and winter vacations in Europe with family until age 16. At a young age, I felt myself being pulled more toward rap music than towards rock. My first vinyl record was Beastie Boys "Licence to Ill." I liked Run DMC, LL Cool J, Slick Rick, Eric B & Rakim,The Fat Boys, Kool Moe D. The 80's also gave birth to certain electronic sounds and synthesizers, which I was especially attracted to. Influenced by the music, I began developing my MC skills at age 12. My horizons were expanded exponentially when I was in Europe. At age 12 I got my first taste of commercial techno music at Virgin Records in Paris, France. I bought my first techno compilation CD and could not get enough of it. As the years passed, I began to enjoy psychedelic trance, ambient, and trip hop. My young mind knew that this music would hold answers to questions I did not know how to ask yet. The music gave me intense energy and euphoria which would often bring me to tears of emotion. When I listened, I felt as if I was plugging into a different dimension; it took me somewhere else, naturally. True to my roots, I continued to listen to hip hop and rap as well. In high school, I was most influenced by Outkast and Dr. Dre and Snoop. Their clever word play and real life inspired lyrics hit close to my heart, even though I was just a middle-class white kid from suburbia. At age 17, I did an internship at Columbia University's radio station in New York City, doing rewiring for their new radio station. I sat in on the legendary Stretch and Bobbito Hip Hop Show and watched how music was broadcast to the masses. I knew then that I wanted to one day reach the masses as well.
