About Me
Hello, darlings. Some dear friends have been urging me to be more active on the internet, hence this myspace page.
About me...well, I hardly know where to begin. I'm an actor. Most of my best films were made during Hollywood's golden age, although my first films were British. Which leads me to the tricky and much debated subject of my heritage. Considering that this is the 21st century, I no longer feel the pressure to lie about my mixed ancestry. I'm part British and part Indian. Back in the 30's and 40's, there were disgusting laws pertaining to race in the movies. If it got out that my mother was Indian, I would have never been able to star in lead roles opposite white actors. Thus, a false biography was written and circulated throughout Hollywood. I was now on Tanzanian descent, which, in the minds of my biographers, would account for my "exotic" features while still leaving no question as to my "Britishness." I desperately regret having hidden my heritage, but things were so different back then. Well, I can't tell you how good it feels to have that off my chest!
On to more cheerful subjects, then. Let's see...in my early days as a night club hostess I called myself 'Queenie O'Brien. Preposterous! Most of my films were the usual factory fluff so common to those days, but I do recommend that you see Wuthering Heights, The Scarlet Pimpernel, These Three, and That Uncertain Feeling.Layout made by nothing_plus_this at CreateBlog.com .
