Sleep 16

Maurice Scott, known as Sleep 16 , was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. He is the third child of four children. He had a modest upbringing being brought up by a single mother; he knew what it was to struggle. But he was raised by a strong woman who taught him to set his goals high and to work hard to bring them to realization. Born twenty four years ago in the small town of U-City Missouri and raised in the rough and tumble neighborhood of St. Louis, where he experienced the various ups and down associated with being a young Black male growing up in the rural West. Like many rural areas in the 80s East gate was hit with a crack epidemic that turned the once peaceful town upside down. Drugs and violence became a common place and Sleep16 struggled to avoid the traps that the system set up for him. One of the things that helped him do this was music. An avid fan of hip hop Sleep16 has never shied away from hard work. As controversial as Hip Hop has become over the last decade, one might think adding a new rapper to the game known as the "Sleep 16" may seem a little over the top, but 24-year-old STL native, Maurice Scott, a.k.a. Sleep 16, could be the solution to what's been missing from rap lyrics-true uncut rhyming ability. While currently at work on his own album, Sleep is no stranger to the studio. He has already been making a name for himself within the industry. Having no real intentions of being a rapper, Sleep first began rapping with cousins just to pass time, but meeting with local MC's from around the way, would alter his course. Unaware of how lyrically inclined he was, Sleep hooked up and began rapping with rappers, call Jung-Tru , Gube-Thug, and Blue-Ghost, of Taylor Made (also later signed to Derrty ENT.) who saw this young rapper's skills, incorporating him into the group. Unknowingly taking his talent to the next level, By increasing recognition of his talent, Sleep 16 realizes that a game he did not at first take seriously, is now a means for him to inspire others and send positive messages to the Hip Hop community.
