landscapes of melodies that open horizons, floating freely from the boundaries of time and space. guitar tunes, building up to become epic-broad walls of sound. dreamlike but still close to reality. this is lastvote, basels post rock band. Founded in the spring of 2002 on the basis of lois by four experienced musicians from the local alternative scene. at first the quartet experiments with the boundaries of contemporary rock in a classical formation. after making their first steps on regional stages around x-mas 2003, they recorded their first demo album in the basel city studios which was released in 2004 under the name rise and fall. several concerts follow where lastvote performs as the support act of high profile bands like aerogramme and mono in renowned clubs amongst others the berner dachstock and the basler kaserne. in autumn 2004 a cellist joins lastvote and this leads to a further stylistic opening up of the band. in the summer of 2005 the long awaited gig on the basler kulturfloss (stage on a float on the river rhein), playing for hundreds of enthusiastic spectators standing on the riverbank. months of re-orientation, struggling for new song material. In spring 2006 recording with tom egli (vacuum records) is scheduled which will lead to lastvotes first big album.
