SlipKnoT Stuff (most of websites some by me)
Hello boys and girls, ladies and gentlemen, and those among you who might simply be curious, those of you who may think that the path of the chav is so pure and good yielding when really you know deep down you want to come to the dark side take the path of most destruction and most of all the most fun. PEOPLE=SHIT.
Arcs and circles and shapes and colors, madness and adrenaline and intensity and war, nine men on stage every night, every day, pushing the chaos so far past the limit all the onlookers can do is scream and hold on for their dear fucking life. Searing guitars and spit flying, drums that pummel and shrieks of melody, man-made noises that chill the blood and eighteen eyes that glare, daring you to join them, knowing you can't, smiling like a slash of insanity across their faces, reaching for what is only out of arms length: immortality. The heat is thick, the air heavy and moist, yet the energy keeps flowing like a circuit between the audience and the band, through the band to the audience, a palpable cycle you can almost touch if you could keep your hands from shaking and your body from losing complete control.
This is Slipknot.
This is live in the eye of the storm.
This is where the myths are made.
SlipKnoT, the greatest band ever to walk this planet, the 9 men that are so close to the devil that they can feel his breath burning the hairs in there face. Everyone who ever said that this band wouldn’t make it has been proved wrong time after time after time but SlipKnoT proved them wrong. SlipKnoTs Iowa album made it to number 1 in the UK Album charts. which is good for a band that was "written off" by the record companies don’t you agree???.
SlipKnoT consists on 9 masked members they are:
"#0, Sidney George Wilson, Sid, January 20 1976, Turntable."
"#1, Nathan Jonas Jordison, Joey, April 26 1975, Drum."
"#2, Paul Dedrick Gray, Paul, April 8 1972, Bass & Backing vocals."
"#3, Christopher Michael Fehn, Chris, February 24 1972, Percussion & Backing vocals."
"#4, James Root, Jim, October 2 1971, Guitar."
"#5, Craig Michael Jones, 133, February 11 1972, sample/keyboard."
"#6, Shawn Crahan, Clown, September 24 1969, Percussion & Backing vocals."
"#7, Mickael Gordon Thompson, Mick, November 3 1973, lead guitar"
"#8, Corey Taylor, Corey, December 8 1973, Lead vocals."
SlipKnoT have produced 4 albums 1 demo and 2 live albums. There first album after the demo was "Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat." this album was first released independently on October 31st, 1996 "Halloween" but was later re-distributed on July 13th, 1997 by "-ismist" records. The album was a limited edition, with only 2000 copies released, few are still around, one copy was sold on E-bay for about £300 not too long ago. In 2005, the album was supposedly reprinted and available on Amazon.com in limited numbers. The members of the band that recorded this Album were not the same as the SlipKnoT we all know and love today the only members that are still in the band today that were in the band when "Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat." was recorded are Shawn (Clown), Joey, and Paul. In the last song “killers are quiet†there is a long silence then another song starts this song is called Dogfish Rising in this song Joey plays guitar, and he plays drums yes its possible apparently he set up with a guitar, Bass Drum, Snare, and a Symbol and plays them all at the same time. The album was dedicated to a close friend of SlipKnoT Joey Plumley who accidentally shot himself in the face the year the album was recorded.
After a live album “Live at Dynamo†released in 1998 and a re-mastered version of “Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat.†called Crowz, both of which I can not seem to find much information about, SlipKnoT released there second album a self titled album “SilpKnoTâ€. This album was there first album to be released by “Roadrunner records†the record name they are still under today. The album was released on June 29th, 1999 by Roadrunner Records. A digipak version was released on March 7th, 2000, followed by a "Clean" version (with swear words dubbed out) on March 14th, 2000 the digipak was re-released on August 9th, 2000. The original album had two tracks which were later replaced with “Me Inside†these tracks are “Purity†a song “about a girl in a box†which is later heard on the “Live 9.0†album the other track is “Frail Limb Nursery†which was an instrumental. Although James Root is credited as a guitarist alongside Mick Thompson he was not the rhythm guitarist on this album, all of the tracks except "Purity" were recorded by former guitarist, Josh “Gnar“ Brainard. Josh left shortly after recording the album and it's he who appears on the album cover, not James. "Purity" later was distributed, but on a limited amount of CDs due to a lawsuit by Brainard that threatened the band. The first track on the album "742617000027" comes from the barcode number of their first album, “Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat.â€, this number and barcode is also used on there jumpsuits they wear on stage.
There third album “Iowa" was released on August 28th, 2001 by Roadrunner Records. The album is called Iowa as this is the state where the members of SlipKnoT live. The title of the first song is (515), which is the telephone prefix code for central Iowa, where Des Moines is located. The cover of the album shows the head of a goat, an image the band incorporated into their live set, on their jumpsuits, and in the video for "Left Behind", as the band felt they had been held as scapegoats since the release of Slipknot. The goat also refers to how when they were all brought up in Iowa, middle America, they were all warned basically as they've said "Beware of the horned goat of Satan!", and that they think that is, to quote Corey "total bullshit - it's just an animal!". This album managed to reach number 1 in the U.K. album chats. The song "My Plague" was used as the theme for Resident evil the song is played in the ending credits. This song does not have the same lyrics as the version on the album this may be as the language is to explicit for little people to hear.
There fourth album "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)" was released on may 25th, 2004 by Roaddunner Records. The band have said that Radiohead and Slayer were the main influences on the album. The album features several guitar solos, which were prohibited by the band's previous producer, Ross Robinson. A special edition of the album, featuring a bonus disc with additional tracks, was released in 2005. Just before this album was released SlipKnoT Corey Taylor was going to quit the band he had got it all planed out. He was going to call the Clown and tell him: "Fuck this, i don’t care any more. I’d rather eat a fucking bullet then spend any time going this." And so Corey picked up the phone and dialled Clowns number and "if it wasn’t for the fucking busy signal, the band would not be around today."
They then released a live album called "SlipKnoT 9.0: live" 2 disks 24 tracks of the greatest band playing live all over the world. The album was released on November 1st 2005. The album is a combination of all of Slipknot's past three commercial albums plus some rare tracks, such as "Purity" and "Get This". It also includes their first ever live performance of the Iowa track "Skin Ticket". "Get this" is slipknot's exceptional song with "Eeyore" because slipknot played/play the Grindcore by "Get this". The album was not all recorded in one place its almost a best of album of gigs that were played in Singapore, Tokyo, Osaka, Las Vegas, Phoenix, New York City, Dallas.
This is all of SlipKnoTs albums so far but Corey has announced that a new album will be coming out in 2008 and he wants there to be a speachal comeback of SlipKnoT as he wants to go "full on again".
untill then stay (sic) and take care of yourself.
Good Bye
