(1) I am basically a perpetual student. I went to school for 21 years and then they gave me a gig teaching and researching writing at a university (I still feel like a student). I am really into second language writing, ethnographic research, and what we call "out-of-school literacies," two of which I am very fond of are graffiti and comics--see my blogs (links above) for more discussion of it all. (2) I really like the word "etcetera," especially when it is abbreviated "etc." (3) I take Halloween costumes very seriously. (4) I prefer to sit in the back of crowded rooms. Otherwise I get abnormally nervous. (5) My thumbs are double-jointed. (6) I have a cat named Chachi, who has leaky tear ducts. (7) My favorite coffee drink is the double cappuccino. (8) I once ran a mile in 4 minutes and 55 seconds (I was 18). (9) My least favorite part of my job is grading: It turns education into a competition and makes me seem more like a judge and less like a coach. (10) My least favorite word in the English language is "persons."
