Holler Town

About Me

Introducing Holler Town, consisting of the new Donny and Marie of the Bay Area country scene! Except that they're not related...nor do they have their own tv show (yet)....nor are they Mormons...okay maybe there aren't that many similarities after all. It's just that Corry always dreamed of being in the duo, ever since her parents bought her that Donny and Marie guitar when she was 7 years old and she'd sit in front of the speakers playing it along to Linda Rondstadt records...and it looks like this is as close as she is going to get. Holler Town is a band consisting of Dave and Corry, 2 East Bay pals who share a love of good songs, singin' and pickin'. Dave honed his masterful guitar, banjo, vocal and songwriting skills on the high plains of Iowa. He has played in such fine music establishments as the Urban Hillbilly Quartet (Minnesota) and SF classics, Firecracker and the Real Sippin' Whiskeys (www.thewhiskeys.com). Corry meanwhile honed her songwriting, singing and guitar and mandolin strumming skills upon the tree-lined streets of Sacramento. Corry's childhood summer travels to visit family in Arkansas helped instill in her a deep love and respect for all music Southern. Forays to Massachusetts to study traditional folk music and North Carolina to learn Southern Appalachian tunes added to her musical tastes and abilities. More of her musica can be heard at www.myspace.com/corryjo Corry is a veteran of bands such as Hank, The Pioneer Valley Gospel Choir, the Twisted Stitches and Half-Assed Bluegrass. The band Holler Town was formed in January 2006 when Corry sat in with Dave and the guys in the Real Sippin Whiskeys, and over beers after the show Corry and Dave decided to start a project. Thus Holler Town was born, and as it turns out, she's a little bit country and he's a little bit rock and roll.
