Heroes:

bob dylan and allen ginsberg. poets of the 60s. bob dylan: he's like god. he knows how to capture the human spirit through songwriting. plus the man is just badass for not succumbing to standards. he's a great inspiration for my writing. guess where i got my signature shades from. ts elliot: my second inspiration for writing. read "the wasteland" and you'll see. The Beatles (Sgt. Peppers... era): What can I say? They introduced to me a world when I was 5. It's like I've grown up with them throughout my life. Mahatma Gandhi: my hero for his power to use civil disobediance to bring a change in government and society. i'd like to say henry thoreau...but he got nothing on gandhi when he actually did it.Jack Kerouac: my fourth inspiration for writing...read "On The Road" and you'll undersstand.Miles Davis: I never was into the technical side of Miles Davis. But somehow, it's his trumpet playing that drives me to run outside and love life. Listening to the album "Kind of Blue" is what made me what i am today.Buddha: i love his philosophy despite the fact that i'm a catholic.John Lennon: i could relate to himBeck...because the man can pwn every music genre and be good at it. pluse he's a good singer-songwriter. go cry in your room jeff beck.Pablo Picasso: One of my favorite artists of all time. He challenged the viewer and he was unwilling to go by conventional standards. I love the fact that he was so apathetic to the world but when he saw the horrible events of the Spanish Civil War, he switched gears and did his masterpiece...Guernica.Ono no Komachi: If it weren't for her, I wouldn't have written any haikus or tankas. Even that, she would have never introduced me to a world of geishas before that silly movie. The Velvet Underground (and perhaps Nico, she deserves a little credit): One album: The Velvet Underground and Nico. Listen and cherish it.Akira Kurosawa: If it weren't for his film Dreams, I wouldn't have thought twice about my life and my role in spirituality.Nick Drake: He died so young...but yet he wrote the most beautiful music in a short span of time.Stanley Kubrick: his films are just perfect. And I always cry everytime I see the perfectionism in a film like "2001: A Space Odyssey".St. Francis of Assisi: he went against the mistakes of the Catholic Church and rejected conformity. In my book...he's my hero.my art history teacher and a good friend, Mr. Marcucilli (oh how he embarrasses himself): he taught me a lot. art history, stories, lost love, romanticism, comedy, and life. he challenged the school's guidelines and go with his gut and feeling. if there was an epitome of a true teacher...mr marcucilli would be it.by not-so-popular demand, princess june: I knew her for a very long time. She always helps me when I'm down and vice versa. It's at a point where I can say I really love her as a close friend. thanks june.God: god's always been there even after i left catholic church behind. i think that because of my departure, my spirituality has been stronger. i can always count on god.
