May-May

I resigned a long time ago that I cannot change the world; I can only strive to change my world.

About Me

"I'm NOT Beligerent MuthaFUCKA!"

"When I was young, my ambition was to be one of the people who made a difference in this world. My hope still is to leave the world a little bit better for my having been here.
It's a wonderful life and I love it."
Jim Henson
"I'm pretty, but I'm not beautiful.
I sin, but I'm not the devil.
I'm good, but I'm not an angel."
Marilyn Monroe

Ahem. I am not as cool as you think I am.
I resigned a long time ago that I cannot change the world; I can only strive to change my world.
A lonely, old, lost soul wandering the human world looking for the way back into the realm of Faerie... I love persons, but loathe people; and I love animals and rescue kitties. When on my own schedule, I sleep by day and rise for night. I grew up in South Louisiana and spent much of my youth wandering around New Orleans and all its gothic glory. I miss New Orleans.
I love thunderstorms: running through the cemetaries in a storm, dancing barefoot in the streets while the water pelts and soaks you, or sitting on the porch watching the heavens play tag with the earth.
I love to laugh and to sing and to dance and to love. I am a wonderful friend and a giving person, but I have a mean streak like anyone else. Cross me as much as you would like, and I tend towards forgiveness; but cross my loved ones, and learn the true meaning of "bitch".
I am a stereotypical Capricorn. I'm a workaholic; I'm fiercely loyal and loving, but I am emotionally distant to most. You will always see my true nature, but you will never see my the full range of my true emotions until you have earned my trust completely. Be warned that once you have lost it, you will never see it again.
I change my haircolor. Often.
I cannot categorize myself other than I am me.
I enjoy art, poetry and literature, and music.
I love looking through kaleidescopes.
I am addicted to Coca Cola and anything Muppets.
I lika da spicy.
I also lika da funky. If it's got horns, baby, I am all over it.
I miss Tri-Met and park benches. I even miss the screechy brakes on the Max.
I play darts rather well and curse rather fluridly in French when I lose.
I can be quite silly and have an extremely dirty mind. You have been warned.
I am "Agnostic" with extremely heavy Pagan tendencies; I am an old, faerie soul trapped in this world looking for the truth and searching for the door back to the other world. I am fascinated by religions of the world, and I have the utmost respect for all cultures and everyone's search for and relationship with "God", their creators, or as I like to say, "The Powers That Be." Do not try to convert me, but do educate me and do respect that I respect you.
I love ballroom dancing. Though my mastery is rapidly losing its hold. I seem to excel in American Rhythms, though the smooth International Standards hold my fancy.
I can stare at Chagall for days. His works--especially his stained glass--hypnotize me. (I miss Chicago...)
I can sit on the porch and stare at the leaves on a tree for hours. I can watch the wind chase a leaf round and round. I can look at my world through the eyes of a child. I cherish innocence and value perspective. If the whole world could see what I see and look as I look, they would be in awe and wonder everyday. There would be no time for the troubles that burden us.
But don't let that fool you; I am certifiably warped. And I like it that way. I like it a lot.
I do not like long term goals. I prefer to live more for the day, the week, at most the month. "The best laid plans of mice and men oft go awry." Learned that one the hard way. My only current goal: I want a car that looks like a T.Rex song sounds. Anybody got a decent condition 70 Mustang Mach I CJ428 for sale? LOL.
I am currently between Oregon and Louisiana for an inderterminate amount of time. Life moves pretty fast (Ferris Bueller), and it has currently whipped me around quite a bit. The room is still spinning, and I don't know which direction I will be facing once it stops.
But no matter what I do, I simply want the whole world to be beautiful and interesting to and for everyone. So everyone do what you love, and if it's not this or here, then go away!
Which Tarot Card Are You?
You are the Empress card. The Empress is the archetype of the Mother. She creates and nurtures life. She represents the abundance of Mother Earth. The Empress is capable of using nature in a productive way. She espouses art for art's sake. Her planet is Venus, and she embodies love of beauty and a strong value system. Here is also found initial sensation. This is the first really physical experience of the world that The Fool has entered. The Empress has a rich understanding of the world based on her five senses. In a reading, The Empress represents pregnancy, actual or metaphorical. She indicates an act of creation and a sensual experience of beauty. The Empress is a nurturing force that wishes to see the product of her experiences reach the next stage of development. You are The Empress

Beauty, happiness, pleasure, success, luxury, dissipation.

The Empress is associated with Venus, the feminine planet, so it represents, beauty, charm, pleasure, luxury, and delight. You may be good at home decorating, art or anything to do with making things beautiful.

The Empress is a creator, be it creation of life, of romance, of art or business. While the Magician is the primal spark, the idea made real, and the High Priestess is the one who gives the idea a form, the Empress is the womb where it gestates and grows till it is ready to be born. This is why her symbol is Venus, goddess of beautiful things as well as love. Even so, the Empress is more Demeter, goddess of abundance, then sensual Venus. She is the giver of Earthly gifts, yet at the same time, she can, in anger withhold, as Demeter did when her daughter, Persephone, was kidnapped. In fury and grief, she kept the Earth barren till her child was returned to her.

Jamay's Personal Card:

The Empress

This Deck: Tarot of the Spirit
Fast Facts About The Empress
Theme: Look for opportunities to be generous, warm and nurturing.
Astro Association: Venus
Element: Earth
Number: 3
Alias: Fertility
General Meaning: Traditionally entitled "Empress," this major arcana or "trump" card portrays the energy of the Great Mother. She is Nature, around us but also within us, the ever-unfolding Source of life-giving power. She is often pictured as a pre-Christian Goddess, as the one whom the High Priestess is channeling down to earth for the rest of us.
In medieval Europe, the Empress card was painted to represent whatever Queen currently ruled the land, probably to satisfy the Inquisitors. But the scholars of the Renaissance and beyond had no doubt of her true identity, although she could not be fully revealed on Tarot cards as the "woman clothed with the sun" until after the French Revolution.
This supreme archetype of femininity also symbolizes fertility. It is She who provides us nourishment and security. She is also sometimes seen as delighting us with flowers and fruit. A potentially terrifying aspect of this archetype manifests itself whenever karmic mood swings wipe out our plans, like a storm that has come upon us. Whatever happens, the Empress is the Source of our Embodiment and of Natural Law. She might even be called "the Great Recycler."
SO YA BEST RESPECT BITCHES!

ALWAYS REMEMBER:
WHATEVER I GIVETH, I CAN ALSO TAKETH AWAY!

My Interests

Art, literature, music, religion... The world! Everything is beautiful and fucked-up in it's grandure, and that's what makes it so wonderful!
The only thing I love more than Bowie, Muppets, Kittens or Crawfish:

I'd like to meet:

"...Rustlers, Cutthroats, Murderers, Bounty Hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, con men, indian agents, mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwackers, hornswaglers, horse thiefs, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, asskickers, shitkickers, and METHODISTS!"
And anyone who can name this quote! *grin*
David Bowie, John Taylor (of Duran Duran--meow!), Bruce Campbell, Cyndi Lauper, Marc Chagall, my great-grandfather Logan "Jack" Archbold Vilas "Sr", my great-aunt Rachel Grandville, Quentin Tarantino, Robert Rodriguez, Kevin Smith, David Lynch, Gary Oldman, Tim Roth, Pam Grier, and many more...
It should be noted that if you want to be my friend, you better send me a nice little message why, or hope that your page peaks my interests. I barely have time for my friends and family now, and I am not interested in simply collecting. Don't send me a request if you're a band I don't know about. You won't get it, unless I'm feeling particularly generous.
I try to surround myself with sincere, passionate, open-minded, creative, and fun personalities. Please fall into at least one of those areas.
Also, if you get this:
more graph humor and song chart memes
I am such a nerd! LOL

Music:

David Bowie, Cherry Poppin' Daddies , Duran Duran, U2, Dash Rip Rock , Galactic, White Hot Odyssey, The Visible Men, Flogging Molly, The Blue Runners, Ingrid Lucia (with and without The Flying Neutrinos ), Gogol Bordello, The Clash, New York Dolls, Roxy Music, The Bosstones, Dead Can Dance, and all other sorts... I dig old school, late 70's and early 80's funk, new wave, rock, classic rock, jazz fusion and funk, punk and ska, classic country and "alternative". Nothing beats a really obscure (and often bad) punk or ska cover, though!

Movies:

So many movies! "Labyrinth" and "The Princess Bride" rank at the top! Closely followed by "MirrorMask" and "The Nightmare Before Christmas" and "Corpse Bride". I love old horror--love Vincent Price and Bela Lugosi. And Jean Rollins vampy vamp vampness. I love fantastique! And of course Argento's giallo, and Meyer's good ol' American 1960's ubersleaze. Tarantino's dialogue rules like nothing else. Bruce Campbell. Is. The man. Robert Rodriguez is the man, too. Of course, anything Henson touches is golden. And I love the fact that the Japanese horror movies are the latest trend--I can't my hands on enough of them!
In answer to some questions about my tastes, here's an attempt at a brief, yet significant list... These are the movies that I packed up and brought with me in the migration. (Cut me some slack; I was a film student, remember?) *grin*

Television:

Don't really do TV anymore... "No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain" is the only show I make an attempt to watch. Will catch an episode of "The Simpsons" every now and again... If I'm home on Saturday nights, Lawrence Welk is in the background. Used to watch "Angel"; that was the last show I watched. Every now and again I'll catch Dave Chappelle or Carlos Mencia, Monty Python and Fawlty Towers or other British humor. Love anything Muppets. Previous loves include "Twin Peaks", "The Tick", "MASH", and a few others... Does anybody else remember watching Beatles cartoons when they were little?!

Books:

"Stardust" and "Neverwhere" by Neil Gaiman; "The Hounds of the Morrigan" by Pat O'Shea; Defoe, Flaubert, Wordsworth, O'Neil, Shelley, mostly British Romanticism and a bit of gothic horror. Currently re-reading "On The Road" and "Naked Lunch". Burroughs was a wonderfully fucked-up, brillant mind. And I love the Cajun remakes of classic fairy tales as well as the originals.

Heroes:

Cyndi Lauper, Jane Wiedlin (The GoGo's) and Teri Nunn (Berlin) rawked my world when I was little. Nowadays, it's David Bowie, Jim Henson, and Brian Froud. Along with Robert Rodriguez, David Lynch, Dave McKean, Tim Burton, etc...
