Macavity’s Cat

About Me

Formed in Surrey in the 80’s out of Leatherhead’s legendary Riverside Klub Macavitys Cat is a notorious nine piece hill billy skiffle band. The line up features such diverse instrumentation as a wash board and zob stick. They claim that they do for live music what King Herrod did for baby sitting. In fact in the 80’s & 90’s Macavitys released 3 CD’s, did several tours of Holland (and Iceland PLC) made appearances at the Reading Festival, Brixton Academy and had the Sunday lunchtime residency at Harlesden’s Mean Fiddler. They were on BBC TV with Doc Cox and their live Cd’s & videos were distributed worldwide by Raucous Recordsand in Holland by Music and Words.20 years later they have been persuaded out of the pub by the promise of unlimited beer and the chance sharing a dressing room with Lemmy at Guilfest 09. So if you want to see what a bunch of musicians who chose Shane Macgowan and Keith Richards as life coaches look like 20 years later. Dont miss 'em.
