About me?
Curiously not a little blue-haired worm, but a rather tall and perpetually confused geek, with a love of all things odd and unusual.
Currently I work full-time in Liverpool as a software engineer / generic IT monkey, studying part-time at JMU (general geekyness) and Hope (basic Spanish). Hardly world changing stuff, but keeps my mind ticking over, and gives me enough free time to do the things that make life worthwhile.
Love live-music in all forms; gigs, concerts, clubbing and most things involving trying to wiggle (out of time) to a decent tune. Musically I'm an Indie / Rock kid at heart, though my taste is shamefully eclectic, often verging dangerously close to cheese. As much of a cop out as it sounds I don't really slot into any particular genre of music as I think there's good to be found in everything, if you're willing to dig a little.
My taste in movies pretty much echos my music taste; my inner geek loving all things Jim Henson (Labyrinth and Dark Crystal especially), a good selection of Anime and cheesy horror movies (Evil dead trilogy). My Y chromosome seemingly having been bitch-slapped into submission, I have an embarrassing love of musicals, with Little shop of horrors and Nightmare before Christmas resting near the the top of my list. Add to that; typical 'guy' movies, comedy movies (love 'High Fidelity') anything by Kevin Smith and rather unexplainably all things zombie ('Shaun of the dead' the clear favorite)!
Don't watch much TV but connect on a scary level with 'Spaced'. Other than that, enjoy odd-ball comedy (Scrubs, Black Books, Peepshow) and a few other odds and ends (especially Joss Whedon's stuff).
Weirdly for a Liverpuddlian, football is totally wasted on me. In fact, most mainstream sports leave me cold and staring at the wall, contemplating eating paint-chips.
Into most things outdoorsey be that falling into streams or struggling up mountains whilst trying hard not to offend the local folk. Enjoy Airsoft (wiki it) which does double duty helping me de-stress and gives me an excuse to play in the mud, wear makeup and dress like a pikey.
Other than that I guess all that remains is my penchant for web-comics ('sequential art' is god-like, as is all Phillip M. Jackson's work), my love of all things small and fluffy (red squirrels and cats especially) and to give passing mention to my Kryptonite like weakness for geeky alternative girls ...
