Raised in East London E15 / E16 to be precise. A young Kewba caught the Hip Hop bug. Though most of his piers at the time were more into Djing Bashment / Ragga , Kewba was starting an affair with Hip Hop that would last a lifetime. He states “I have always loved music from various genres as it has the ability to influence your moodâ€.As a youngster Kewba’s musical influences were from a wide spectrum. Shina Peters, Sunny Ade, Don Williams to Public Enemy to name a few. It was Hip Hop that gave Kewba his sense of self empowerment. Upon leaving school he set up a studio and started making music. It took a lot of money and learning to eventually start making the music he loved . This lead him to promote his own beat albums “KewBeats†and produce music for his camp which comprised of singers rappers and poets. After winning a succession of talent shows and performing at various events Kewba thoughts were querying if he could be a professional.
Joining Sparki Ski and Lawyer the Black, they formed Simply killer innovations (S.K.I). This gave birth to the S.K.I. album series 1 – 10. Kewba Grooming other projects simultaneously. While acquiring his Degree, He produced a singer who managed to win an all university singing competition scooping a £5000 prize at the all university end of year festival. Djing all the way through at various events. He says “I was just keeping it moving†getting himself a taste of theatre and music by working alongside Jonzi D on a youths production. Kewba wanted to take in as much as he could to develop his craft so he could pursue a real career in the music business.After producing beats for numerous artist (Rappers, Singers and Poets) around the country and for his camp Horizon. Kewba put himself forward as the artist releasing his debut the “Reinserted†E.P. This being the point of no return for Kewba as he felt this was all the boost he needed to believe in his abilities will one day pay off.
Kewba embarked himself on journey of educational workshops from Djing to Music Production and Lyric Composition in schools and Art prison projects. Once again Kewba was able to help and inspire others to develop their individual talents.
Currently Kewba is polishing up the 3rd edition of his IronMonkey series and embarking on the release of a mini dub step album. Promoting his Dj craft through mix cd’s and podcasts via Channel 7.
