About Me

Artist/ Songwriter Named Laval Sincere got her name from her beliefs in what music should be and what she brings to the game. Her brother/ Producer and Best Friend/Fashion Coordinator blessed her with it. *~ Harlem~* Sincere's Virtuous tone takes you back to a time in Rhythm and Blues when the talent came from the soul of the artist, and not from the products in the studio. Born in Harlem, home of the greatest singers like Billie Holiday, Josephine Baker, and Alicia Keys Sincere got her distinctive soulful voice by living in Harlem, learning the history and importance of your voice. "Growing up in Harlem I was like a sponge for learning music. You couldn't walk down one block, go to one cookout, or block party without people dancing and singing to 'grown folks' music. My two brothers both went to Harlem Boys Choir and seeing them perform opera and play the piano really inspired me. Harlem taught me the importance of learning through family and the wisdom of knowledge and heritage they bring to you. The Harlem renaissance was a very big stepping stone in R&B. Great people that wasn't even from Harlem traveled to perform here, and what better way to learn about the business then to talking with your family that has witnessed it all. Good and Bad." Harlem taught her about music. Through this Sincere had a clear path to places she needed to reach, and if she ever got confused she could always depend on that family. *~Brooklyn~* At the age of thirteen, Sincere, her mother, and two older brothers moved to Brooklyn. Brooklyn is the home of Aaliyah, Jay-z, Foxy Brown, Lil' Kim, and Biggie. She says with her smile on her face and Giggles, "I remember that day so vividly, me not wanting to leave Harlem, I loved it way to much, so my mom came home way day with a present. It was Jay-z CD and told me 'Great artist come out of Brooklyn too." Moving to Brooklyn was one of the best things that happened to Sincere as an artist. "Brooklyn is where I found my Swagger. I combined the soul of singing from your guts, which I learned from Harlem, with Brooklyn's bona fide unrefined style." That is when Sin realized no female singer in this game is like quite like her. Sincere has been through a lot in this industry. From almost being signed with a group that was part of a company getting distribution through Def Jam, and also working with who she calls one of the best female rappers in the game Foxy Brown. "To record in the studio with Foxy and Gavin was so surreal, but unfortunately I will never be in a group again because it's hard when you're focused always going to meetings and recordings on time, and your band mates are not thankful for the blessings god granted." Her music and song writing reflects this. When Sincere performs her swagger is not prissy, but more of a sexy, soulful, female rapper. Her personality, exquisite looks, songwriting, performance, and being as a whole is matchless to any female in the music business. At this time Sincere is working on new music in the studio, and performing in showcases all around the city at clubs such as the Pyramid, The Remote Lounge, The Village Underground, The Chocolate Monkey, Flatlands, and Boom Restaurant. "I want to get my new music up and going. Once my CD is on and popping my street team will distribute it, and I will send it to connects that I have in the industry." Sincere is also has a new website where she will has news about upcoming shows, a Gallery of pictures and performances, multimedia, Bio, and a Message Board.*~What MuSic Is To Sin~* "Music has been my best friend in my life. When I was going through things rather being hurt in a relationship, finding new love, wanted to cry and let it out, or just going to a party and dance the night away, it was there. I started writing and getting into music so I can give back to people what I got from it but with a little twist. My music is authentic straight from the heart. Johnny Cash had a saying and I live by it day to day: 'You know, performance is communicating. You've got to communicate. You've got a song you're singing from your gut; you want that audience to feel it in their gut. And you've got to make them think that you're one of them sitting out there with them too. They've got to be able to relate to what you're doing.' I live by this saying each day I look up to artist like Anita Baker, Mary J. Bilge, Alicia Keys, Donnie Hathaway, Otis reading, Jay-z, Billie Holiday, Led Zeppelin, Foxy Brown, Jill Scott, and Faith Evans." All these people give her chills when she hears their music. If she still gets lost without a doubt Dodge her brother and producer will steer her back. "His producing and beats really defined my style and who I am as an artist, and for that where ever I go and whatever I do he is doing it by my side." Dodge City is the entity of Sincere and her Brother and many other artist Dodge works with. They first started in their rooms in Harlem with a Casio, now thanks to Dodge they have a studio in their basement in Brooklyn to call their own through savings from him. Sincere came from a lot, from being in a group that was going to get a distribution deal through Def Jam, to selling things to make sure she has everything she needs for a show. Through everything that she has been through in her life it made her stronger. All of her experiences helped her she understands that the music business is a business, and she's ready to get the business flowing through her veins once again.
