Son nom vient d'une chanson que sa mère chantait pendant la maternité. Céline a grandi avec la musique tout autour de soi: sa mère jouait du violon et son père de l'acordéon, pendant que les autres fils servaient à table. Céline a commencéé á chanter á 5 ans dans le pianobar de ses parents avec sa brillante voix et peu après est devenue une célébrité dans la ville. Á 12 ans elle a dit á sa mère qu'elle ne voulait que chanter dans sa vie et pourtant Madame Thérèse a contacté un des managers les plus connus de Montréal: René Angélil. Il a été si impressioné par la voix de la petite Céline qu'il a pleuré et il avait si de foi en elle qu'il a hypotéqué sa propre maison pour produire son premier album! Quand THE COLOUR OF MY LOVE a sorti (en Novembre 1994) Céline a livré à tout le monde que son plus grand amour était René, malgré il soit plus agé qu'elle de 26 ans. Ils se sont mariés le 17 décembre 1994.
