Band Members: Greetings and Salutations!
I am JP, the singer for "The Cosmic Supernovas". I do multi-phonic (sing multiple notes at once) chanting and harmonic singing and playing violin and piano (on occassion). These are low-quality samples I recorded on a sailboat in the San Juan Islands in Washington, USA in the late 1990's. This page is just for those albums and my pet-project "The Cosmic Supernovas" for meditational music and chanting. Some of the covers of the albums are below.

Sincerely,

JP

"... These songs were originally inspired and written for the Himalayan mountains, those untouchable places on this earth that are as much in the sky as a part of the ground and seem to me to sleep timelessly among the heavens themselves. They are a prayer and a comfort for me when I need to remember my home and where I come from. No matter where I am or what my life is like herein I can step into reverence, wonder and awe at the majesty, magnificence and beauty of all creation and the eternal. Herein I can find some peace, as I become the sounds I can return again in worship and soar on the wings of my heart, finally free... " 10-07-2001

Influences: I am influenced as much by images, feelings, places, events and people as much as other music.
I grew up on Classical -Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, Williams, you name it. I began playing violin since I was 7 years old and became a soloist as a child, and like all prodigys I burnt out as a young adult and stopped playing for many years. Some of these tracks are from when I first picked up the instrument and began to sing and play after not having done so in almost a decade. It was cold, snowing, I was sad, frozen and alone.
Influences: Bach (Chaconne!), Mozart, Vivaldi, Beethoven, Williams, Vangelis, Holst, Nine Inch Nails, Sigur Ros, Depeche Mode, Coldplay, Dead Can Dance, Lisa Gerard, Billy Corgan, The Smashing Pumpkins, Morrisy, Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Phantomas, Thomahawk, Patton and Kadaa, The Cure, Tori Amos, Bjork, Old waver and disco music, Skinny Puppy, Native American and ethnic chanting, Carlos Castaneda, Debbie Ford, Aikido, Beautiful music and movies like "BARAKA" and "What Dreams May Come", Beautiful stories, legends, fables, fairy tales and places; desolate mountain tops and ranges, cliffs overlooking the sunset and ocean, open ocean waves and sunlight, storms and bad weather, and being near the one I love -the is what inspires me the most, to tell you the truth... and now, children as well.
I also do guitar and vocals and electronic stuff.
Forgive my absence here or the lack of new tracks- I've been spending most of my time making happy music and new stuff. Sombulance will be available on the west coast or download soon. All the proceeds from sales after offsetting costs will go towards non-profit organizations for peace and awareness and education.
Namaste.
