Modular::Experiments is mainly improvised music, using an analog, modular synthesizer and sequencers as central sound elements. I was experimenting with a big modular when these tracks were recorded, hence the name. I now have one of these analog beasts myself, a system that will probably be an eternal "work in progress"! But that's the beauty of these things, isn't it?
My music can be soft and lyrical, other times intense and driving. I like the contrast between the static, machine-like feel of sequencer patterns, and the spontaneous quality of the improvised solos and sound effects. The step sequencer can, by its nature, impose limitations on the chord variations possible, so it's a challenge to try and stretch that as far as I can, and create interesting harmonies on top of the sequencer groove.
My track "Night Flight" is included on the new CD release "Trame" by MinimalRome. Get it here: http://www.minimalrome.com/07/
