Dixie is my working dog; we have been partners since 2000. She is an awesome bloodhound that uses her nose to search out missing persons as well as cadavers. The best thing about Dixie is she never tells my secrets. She has an incredible nose and lately a lot of police departments have depended on her to help them out. I'm Dixie’s handler Stacy. I’m easy going, simple yet complex, meaning I look at the world uniquely and will think of the questions you'd never imagine. My philosophy on life is simple: no one is perfect and if you can't laugh at your own imperfections and learn from your own mistakes then life will take you down at the first sign of struggle. I generally avoid conflict and try to live at peace whenever possible. I see the world as black or white; meaning life is what it is. I believe that we learn something new everyday, from all types of people no matter how old or young, gender or race. My interests are in forensic science, neuroscience and K-9 handling.
I have a wonderful family and I think God for them everyday. My father is a retired cop (CID) and I guess I blame him for my love of forensics. When I was around 12, he took me on patrol with him and exposed me to the world of crime scenes. My mother died when I was 18. I miss her often, but have been blessed with a wonderful step mom. There isn’t anything she wouldn't do for my brothers or me. However, I must admit when I was a teenager, I often called her my “step monsterâ€. We laugh about it now. I thank God everyday for my wonderful network of friends and my loving family.
I also thank God everyday for bringing John into my life in 2003; and pray everyday, he and his brothers in blue will be safe always.
