Ever since 1997, its been from psychodelic patterns and hard beats to rock rhythms and drum rolls. While changing the track in the middle of some of his songs, he gains interest and the ear of all listeners, and draws attention from other MCs that claim his style is 'his own'.After a stint with the crew thing, HXN decided to take matters into his own hands by going solo. He released his debut album, The Hi-Priest, and started a buzz with it in early 2004. Receiving airplay on underground and college radio across the US and in Canada, including internet radio such as Scrub Radio and Myspace, the album combined elements of electronica, hip-hop, and rock that resulted in a type of style different in many ways. Songs like No. 1 Sinner, and Prayin Mantis Style, which reached No. 2 on BUZZRadio's Top 30 chart, flash the hard-ass vibe listeners can appreciate. He further improved his resume by landing 2 soundtrack spots in the Substance Production film, The Writing on the Wall: The Real American Graffiti, a documentary depicting the relationship between hip-hop culture and the graffiti arts. He represents his hip-hop flavor a little more with joints like 'Diplomacy', 'To My People' and 'Can't Act Right', while still touching on his torsion-like approach that solidfied his stance on 'Miracle of Man'.HXN has stained the underground rap scene with an appetite for more, and has performed at spots all over the Chicago scene. "I try to focus on creativity as well as content", says HXN. "Most rappers only skill is battling and talking crap about each other. Although that's cool becuz I do freestyle at some of my cyphers, but I want to do more than that. I think a good jam is worth more than a good diss, especially when there's a message. You really turn heads that way. To have my joint playing at parties with the people bobbing their heads, that's what I aim for. It's just the ultimate rush as an artist."With that mindset, HXN will ensure that his mark goes deeper than most ever thought.
