About Me

Estesombelo is an experimental/ambient group from Chicago that performs frequently at art galleries, music venues, and exhibitions. They have collaborated with many visual artists to combine plasticity with art in the form of sound. They have collaborated with such artists as Sylvain Chauveau and Chanel Pease; performed at such venues as the Empty Bottle; opened for such bands as Charalambides (Kranky) and Zelienople (Type); and played exhibitions such as the Speaker Project in the Hyde Park Art Center. They have two completed albums, ‘Oppida Von Ataraxia’ which clocks in over sixty minutes in length and the single tracked piece ‘eye-oe’ which runs nearly twenty-six minutes. They have a split album with Mykel Boyd to be released on Somnimage this summer as well as a recording conceived in the University of DePaul’s studios. This August, Estesombelo will be touring the East coast in hopes of broadening their fan base and seeing what other cities have to offer. The tour will take place from August 13th until August 18th so if any dates are available please contact us. Thank you for your time and support.
"These locals refer to their debut recording, the self-released Oppida von Ataraxia, as an EP; the fact that it's more than an hour long should tell you something about the scale they're working on. Even if it were the length of a proper EP, it'd be as satisfying as a lot of full-lengths thanks to its deep, lush arrangements - involving bowed guitar, xylophone, crystal singing bowl, and other musical sundries - and the big picture way each track unfolds.
