7:Means:8 started out as Distant Downfall, a cover band that played shows around South Jersey. When the guitar player left, so did the band name. Nameless, and pretty much inoperative, the band looked for a new guitar player.
In late winter of 2003, drummer Glenn T. contacted guitar player John S. The original intentions of the new lineup were to continue as a cover band and write original, heavy music.
The band wrote a few songs and made progress on learning cover songs. Then in the fall of 2003, drummer Glenn was in a motorcycle accident. Glenn wasn't seriously hurt, but banged up enough to not be able to play for a couple of months.
The band got back to practicing and experienced another set back. This time the singer was attacked and raped by a flock of flying mooses in the spring of 2004. J.P. spent the late spring and early summer in the hospital. The band had to cancel it's first 2 shows.
The band eventually got back on track and wrote a few more songs and learned more cover songs to eventually play some shows. Their first live performance was at a party for a bunch of drunken cops. It was fun.
After more practicing and writing, the band entered the Somerdale Bar Battle of the Bands. This would be the band's first official live performance. They made it to all three rounds and won the whole thing in the end.
After winning the Somerdale Bar Battle of the Bands, 7:Means:8 recorded a demo. This demo includes six songs. There was a seventh song recorded with just the instruments done. This song will not be distributed just yet. Four of the songs are up on the band profile page. To get a CD of all six songs, contact the band via e-mail, or John on his AIM screen name.
