A BROKEN DREAM

A Broken Dream is a four piece alternative rock band from Detroit, Michigan. Their sound is reminiscent of new age, with a healthy dose of funky rhythms thrown in for good measure. Their simple, yet beat-based songs have attracted an enthusiastic audience to date. Together since 2004, Michael (Styles) Walker (bass player), Carl (Cat) Caparaotta Jr.(Drums and Vocals),and Derreck (D'man) Malcolm (Guitar) & our new edition Eric (Jadee) (Lead Vocals & Guitar) coming into the band in 2008. A Broken Dream got their start. When band mates Cat and Styles, tired of the same old, on one week, off the next week bands of their past. Decided to put together a new project. With dreams of stardom, broken at every turn. A Broken Dream was created, with the missing link living right next door, guitarist Derrick (D'man) join the band. And even before their songs began to mesh, they had a sense of what they wanted to be a band of spirit and passion that assigned meaning to their music. The band are at times hard hitting and wailing and then suddenly, a slow and groove oriented three piece. They continue to show intensity by trying to bring fresh sounds and ideas to the world of alternative music. Everyone lends creativity "and sometimes that's a struggle," says styles,(bass) "but, that's ok. Our differences some how blend and make us stronger." Carl,(Drummer/ vocalist) adds, "I think the struggle we have, is that of three guys with ideas sometimes at odds with each other, over volume control, is part of our energy. We clash, but we're really close at the same time." Derreck (D'man), varying in intensity, provides an even, muscular flow (heavy distortion guitar style, his acoustic guitar also finds it’s way on stage at times) and Eric throwin in some sweet vocals with Cat along side of him blending very well. Zeroing in on what's real in each song they play, they are sincerely a Dream come true.“WE ARE A FOUR PIECE BAND THAT JUST APPRECIATE AND ENJOY PLAYING ALL TYPES OF MUSIC.
