Your Inner Child Is Sad
You're a very sensitive soul.
You haven't grown that thick skin that most adults have.
Easily hurt, you tend to retreat to your comfort zone.
You don't let many people in - unless you've trusted them for a long time.
How Is Your Inner Child?
Just about anything 80's, 90's and early 2000's. Don't think much of "rap" or "R'n'B" (just my personal opinion)
Lost in Translation. A very apt story of the ironies that occur in life.(An alternative definition for irony: unexpected ways that life manages to shit on you).
The Goonies and Back to the Future: because there are 1001 catch phrases for just the right occasion. Such as: 'Hey, yooou guuuyssss!' and my personal favorite 'Hey you! Get your damn hands off her!', but there's also 'Get your meat hooks off me!' *sigh* 'Good times, noodle salad!'
The 4400, The Deadzone, Supernatural, Star Trek: The Next (de)Generation, King of the Hill (That Bobby Hill!), The Simpsons, Family Guy, Niptuck (for some very strange reason), and Ugly Betty (Best show to come along in a long time. When will Henry and Betty finally get it together?!) etc.
Top Favorite Books:
Frankenstein, Dracula, The Woman in White, Madame Bovary (oh so true to life.) and Rebecca (I can really identify with the newest Mrs. De Winter.) I've read lots of other books, but I would be here all day if I were going to name them all.
Currently reading 'Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. The Portrait of Dorian Grey is on the to-do list. Check back later.
Finished the Monk ages ago Mathew Lewis's The Monk. Must say it's a typical example of 18th century literature. Reminds me alot of 'The Rover' for some reason. :) That monk Ambrosio. *sigh* Easily seduced by a beautiful face it seems.
Most recent read being Rebecca and 'Ivanov' by Anton Chekhov. Both are Excellent reads. I have found that 'Ivanov' is one of your better pieces of Russian lit.
Having previously read Fathers and Sons I'm assuming that wasn't a typical or good example of good literature. It could have been the translation as it was bland and dry. A bit like stale bread. No flavor. Perhaps it was Turgenev's attempt at taking an ironic stance to nilhilism as the story seemed to lack a point. Or it had a point and I totally missed it!
In comparison, 'Ivanov' was miles better than F&S.
Finished Ocean Sea back at christmas.
Since then I've read quite a few things. Orlando by Virginia Wolff, Katherine Mansfield short stories, Sunset Song, etc, etc. Still on Kiss of the Spider Woman though...All I can say is that it will probably end bad for the two men.
"Here's the rule for bargains. 'Do other men, for they would do you.' That's the true business precept."
- Dombey and Son'I'm not the sort of woman men marry.' - The second Mrs. de Winter, Rebecca
'The more a man loves, the more he suffers. The sum of possible grief for each soul is in proportion to its degree of perfection.' - Henri-Frederic Amiel
