About Me

The Handsome Pants is the name given to Chad's musical dabblings. The name was coined by his niece, Olivia, who claimed that “handsome pants have chocolate on them”. He tends to lay the aural chocolate on thick to oblige this. So far, he has released five albums, free by request for friends and curious strangers. They are as follows:

• All the Hits! (2004)
• Phantom Telegrams (2005)
• Cold War Veterans… Or, the time of your life! (2006)
• Wasted Time Well (2007)
• The Further Adventures of the Handsome Pants (2007)

New album coming this summer--rough drafts of new songs can be heard above. Also, earlier albums soon to be retired and replaced by a compilation of least embarrassing tracks, which will be available for free download via the internets.

Friends welcome!

Band Members: Mostly Chad, an acoustic guitar and keyboard, and various other things laying around the house. Now with more Alex Boatman, and a dash of Jay Bagley and Mark Roinick. Once brother Nick moves back from NYC in the spring and brings brother Kevin's drumset with him, expect more Hansonesque full band rocking than ever, maybe even some live action at Endless Records, the soon-to-be new home for all things handsome and pantslike.
Influences: First and foremost the fine friends and fellows of Five Dollar Day, Fake Canoe, Suzanne the Plan, the Shotshell Wads, and whatever other ridiculous band names any of us come up with next (my vote is for Bone Gum). Other than that, the list is long and ever-changing, but the highlights include Mirah, Smog, The Kinks, Modest Mouse, Tom Waits, Joanna Newsom, Talking Heads, the Beta Band, Michael Hurley, the Soft Boys, Townes Van Zandt, Danielson Famile, Jeffrey Lewis, The Shins, Spoon, Andrew Bird, Archers of Loaf, Silver Jews, Belly, Camille (though she should stick to singing in French), Paul McCartney's first two solo albums, Neutral Milk Hotel, Songs: Ohia, Paul Simon, Bob Marley, Kimya Dawson, M Ward, Broken Social Scene and Fiery Furnaces when they are good, soul coughing, Brenda Lee, the Ink Spots, Burt and Dolly, Sam Cooke and Otis Redding, Arcade Fire, Built to Spill, the Figurines, Brian Eno, Yo La Tengo, the Ventures live, the "One Kiss Can Lead to Another" box set, Sleater-Kinney, sunset rubdown, musical accidents, hearing The Downward Spiral as an impressionable youth, and the Berwick High School Marching Band performance of "Roundabout" by Yes, Amanda and Milo.
