About Me

Al met Al when they both joined a short lived Edinburgh based rock band in 2005. After many months of talking about playing together they finally got around to it at the start of 2006. Al spent the first part of the year learning the other Al’s songs and fitting bass parts to them, occasionally trying them out at some of the various open mic nights around Edinburgh (The Left Bank, Southsider, Whistlebinkies).

It’s now 2008 and AlKandAlC exist in two forms:the duo - kind of more folky. With acoustic guitar, fretless bass, aspirations of sounding like John Martyn, loop pedals and occasion slightings of custom 10 string guitars and Jenny.the band - Al swaps acoustic for electric. The other Al swaps fretless for fretted. And Lucy (fiddle) and Niki (drums) join in too. I guess it’s alt-country folk rock, without much country.
