Shalette was born December 26, in the state of New York. She began singing at the age of four, in her church. She was raised in New York by her parents and grandmother. As she got older she began singing at various functions. She’s been exposing her vocal ability at weddings, pageants, talent shows and more since the age of six. She grew up singing different styles of music like the Jazz, R&B and Soul with her mother and Gospel with her grandmother. Shalette enjoyed listening to artists such as SWV, Rachelle Ferrell and The Clark Sisters just to name a few. Even though Shalette enjoyed listening to other artists, her idol has always been Mariah Carey. By the time she was nine she decided she wanted to become an R&B / pop singer.

Shalette soon began writing lyrics for her own songs at the young age of thirteen. Beginning of 2001 summer she was crowned as Miss District of Columbia, for the Hal Jackson’s Talented Teens International competition. A few months later she received an award and title as “Miss Creativity” in the final competition. September 2001 she attended a Performing Arts High School, in D.C. The following year she attended a different high school, where she became the jazz singer of the Jazz Band for her last two years of high school. Shalette’s last year of high school she performed at the world famous Apollo singing Whitney Houston’s “Saving All My Love”. She’s been in and out of studios singing her own written and co-written music, in Georgia, Maryland and New York. Like Shalette’s idol once quoted “ I don't want to just be categorized as one of this era. My goal is to have a career that stands”-Mariah Carey, Shalette shares this same goal.

For the past few months Shalette has been interning with Violator Management, while she’s currently attending College. She’s majoring in their “Music Industry and Technology” program, working towards her Bachelor’s Degree. She’s broadening her knowledge of music, the industry and the technology, by taking engineering, management and music theory courses. She believes in educating herself about music as much as she can. “I don’t want to be considered as just an artist, I want to be considered as a well rounded artist”-Shalette. Shalette is determined to pursue a career in the music industry as an R&B / Pop performing artist and songwriter.

Shalette has a vocal ability that will keep you in disbelief. She has the powerful vocals like Stephanie Mills, the high, soft and airy sounds like Mariah Carey and the soulful but jazzy sounds like Jill Scott. Most fans say she has a strong voice for such a little person and they’re amazed and enticed when she opens her mouth to sing. Shalette dreams of becoming a singer, songwriter, performer and producer. Shalette is confident and determined to have a lasting career as an artist.
