Exile, the hottest new production talent to arise from these shores this millennium, has his sights set strictly on making good music and away from the lime light.Exile AKA Dan Mawby, is in his mid 20s and has been a proponent of hip hop for years now. He started making beats in Nelson, about 5 years ago and has been traversing the country looking for a working environment since. Dan is really one of the quieter weirdos on the team, the one who likes to stay behind the scenes. Hes strangely dedicated, and he says he cant listen to music for too long. Every time I try I get this itching feeling to make some of my own and then I cant concentrate! he says. Such enigmas exist within the ranks, but rarely come out of the woodwork for the public view.A beat maker with some especial qualities, his first real opportunity to shine will be for his work on Cyphanetiks upcoming Commercial Suicide album. He has been working with him extensively while recording for it. Ive heard this song about 500 times, I think I know the words better than he does! he says while mixing down one of the tracks. Usually a night owl, he has recently begun using day time hours for the long haul. In his time with BWW he has made waves with his unforgettable bangers for Oddballz Hold ya Balance and the soon to be released Ching Ching.In his other role as in house engineer, he also does most of the recording for the Breakin Wreck crew. Needless to say, he is a patient man, and his ability to record and mix tracks is an obvious point in his favour. He may know their songs better than the artists themselves sometimes, but definitely doesnt have any plans to begin rapping himself.
