and as it came down near, so did a weary tear. i thought it was a bird, but it was just a paper bag.

About Me

i'm a grad student in english at indiana university. when i'm not obsessing over how math helps to explain cultural systems, i'm usually hanging out with my friends or walking my dog in and around bloomington. i love good friends and good conversations over locally brewed (or cheap, depending on the time of year) beer. whenever i can, i try to get out of b-town - it's a big world out there, and i haven't seen all of it yet!I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4 Which Sandman Character are You?
You Are Delirium! You are rather strange, but occasionally display a flash of incredible brilliance. Sometimes you forget what you were going to say. Sometimes you remeber things everyone else has forgotten forever and always...

Who Should Paint You: Salvador Dali
You're a complex, intense creature who displays many layers.
There's no way a traditional portrait could ever capture you! What Artist Should Paint Your Portrait?

My Interests

books, math/complex systems, drinking and smoking, movies, hiking, biking, yoga, hanging with friends, walking/petting my dog, travel, cooking, disrupting bureaucracies and challenging the system (when time permits of course!)

I'd like to meet:

peeps

Music:

oh a little bit of everything really - rock, some pop, "alternative" although what *that* means, i'll never be sure, oldies, country (i *am* from texas after all!), hiphop, pretty much anything except new country....so long as i can at least tune it out, we're good.

Movies:

as a self-proclaimed elitist when it comes to most things, one of my great secrets is how much i *love* romantic comedies even though i realize they suck as far as film/acting/writing quality goes. i think, though, one of the funniest movies ever made is the big lebowski.

Television:

the simpsons, south park, the daily show, the colbert report, and recently bones. ummm...those are the only one's i follow, but i can be entertained with anything. i'm also getting into six feet under...in the middle of season 1. good stuff.

Books:

i *love* books - maybe that's why i study them. my current favorites are 'written on the body' by winterson, 'their eyes were watching god' by hurston, 'paradise' by morisson, and one i just read - 'the intuitionist' by colson whitehead - fabulous! oh, and since i'm reading for my qualifying exams right now, the list could go on and on and on. just to add a couple: "kindred" by octavia butler, "the street" by ann petry.

Heroes:
