oh a little bit of everything really - rock, some pop, "alternative" although what *that* means, i'll never be sure, oldies, country (i *am* from texas after all!), hiphop, pretty much anything except new country....so long as i can at least tune it out, we're good.
as a self-proclaimed elitist when it comes to most things, one of my great secrets is how much i *love* romantic comedies even though i realize they suck as far as film/acting/writing quality goes. i think, though, one of the funniest movies ever made is the big lebowski.
the simpsons, south park, the daily show, the colbert report, and recently bones. ummm...those are the only one's i follow, but i can be entertained with anything. i'm also getting into six feet under...in the middle of season 1. good stuff.
i *love* books - maybe that's why i study them. my current favorites are 'written on the body' by winterson, 'their eyes were watching god' by hurston, 'paradise' by morisson, and one i just read - 'the intuitionist' by colson whitehead - fabulous! oh, and since i'm reading for my qualifying exams right now, the list could go on and on and on. just to add a couple: "kindred" by octavia butler, "the street" by ann petry.

anyone who stands up against injustice no matter the personal price. those who, through little acts of kindness and grace, make the world a better place in conservative infested areas. those who live in america and aren't eaten up by commodity fetishism and materialism. those who understand history and how it affects the structure of the present. those who aren't afraid. those who protest oppression in all its forms, especially when that protest isn't popular. those who aren't brainwashed by mainstream media, pr firms and the religious wrong.
