Background & Biography: Demetrius Phillips aka Black Phoenix Even as a young child of five, Demetrius has had the finesse for writing. Presently at age 19, she has blossomed into an intellectual and a mature nineteen year old with the zeal and drive—those same motivating factors since age five-to write for self with the ultimate goal to share with the world. With a past laced with rough and troubling times, Demetrius uses those experiences to propel her writing. Her words are her outlet. Her essence of being. Demetrius uses the pen name Black Phoenix as a proclivity of her spirit. With her poetry she speaks from the heart about her life, the economy, injustices and other experiences that inspires her to write.
