Mark Christensen

Mark Christensen plays guitar but what you see isn't always what you hear. Mark has leapt from genre to genre while working as a multi-instrumentalist solo artist, band member, sideman and producer. But he rarely gets called to make traditional guitar sounds. Armed with a rack of both modern digital and vintage analog gear, his palette of sounds is anything but ordinary. His guitars don't even look normal. With the use of several delays and signal processors, he creates loops and washes of sound over which he improvises a stylistic mix that steals from everything from chamber music to rock to Indian classical music all while putting his personal spin on it. He also plays the Chapman Stick (a 12-stringed instrument with the range of both guitar and bass) as a current member of the post-prog improvisational trio Stone document&183; ____________________________________________________________ ____Past projects include working as a composer for film and theatre and as producer and musician on CDs by Courtney Brocks, Artie LaVigne and the John Tower Group (of which he is a member) as well as his own forthcoming solo CD. He is also a founding member of Regional Science Fair and improvisational collaborations with Su Lian Tan, Keith Watts and Cyrus Chestnutt. Formerly from L.A. he is now living in Vermont and has in the last few years studied Guitar Craft with progressive rock pioneer Robert Fripp.
