Middle Ages, Tribal Style Bellydance, Gothic

About Me

When I was 13 I started wearing black and listening to goth music. My mom loved it and always stood behind me – everybody else was leastwise surprised since I've used to be just a nice and inconspicuous child. Fortunately there are not many pics left from these early days. My styling has been awful. Give a child some black clothes, make-up and hairspray and see what happens. ;))
Some years later I began being passionate about everything medieval such as history, garments, handcrafts, architecture, cooking and the way of life and I started reading a lot of books about the Middle Ages. At the moment I'm a lot into the Viking Era. Meanwhile we have some nice medieval fairs in and around Berlin where you can meet a lot of down-to-earth people to have a good time with.
Take note that I'm no reenactor and not that picky - so of course I'm not "authentic". When you try to be that's fine and I respect that. Respect my attitude, too. I read books to know about the facts and I visit fairs for the fun of it.

In 2003 I started taking bellydance classes. In the beginning of 2004 I discovered a dance style called Tribal Style Bellydance or American Tribal Style and I lost my heart to this kind of dance right away. I learned my very first steps in 2004 in Madrid/Spain from the Tribal teacher of my friend Jacqueline. It was quite funny because she didn't speak English or German and I didn't understand any Spanish... Later I took a few more workshops in Germany and bought reams of instructional DVD's to learn this dance format by myself. Not so easy when there are still no regular lessons anywhere in Berlin.
In the beginning of October 2006 I got a phone call by Tara, a ritual and fire dancer, who was looking for any tribal dancers in Berlin. Since then we are practicing together. My friend Jane joined us in January and Kerstin became part of our group in March 2007.
I still have in mind to learn how to play hurdy gurdy. Well... I already think about it for a few years and I just couldn't give it up so far. But since I don't have any knowledge of maintaining, adjusting and playing this instrument, I don't want to begin unassisted. I doubt that it would make sense to start learning it on my own.
Beyond and above all I enjoy being with my husband Marty who I'm married to since Beltane 2002. He always cheers me up and encourages me whenever I lose motivation. We have been friends long before we became a couple and he still is my best friend. We have an affinity of nature and temperament, the same idea of life and also similar quirks.
I also like to spend some time with friends. I’m not the lone wolf kind of person at all. I just like to have people around for a good talk and some fun.

I'd like to meet:

No trophy hunters, friend collectors or people who just want to advertise themselves or their projects! If you are not really interested in me individually – please abstain from sending a request. Thank you. At the moment I'm here primarily to keep contact to people I know in person. On that account I currently add very few people that I'm not acquainted with. (If I do, this person should share a good deal of my own interests.) So please don't take it personally when I don't accept your request.
If you like to do the „fun stuff“ like doing tests or posting lists with stupid questions or even reposting chainmails of shady content... please, don’t pester me with that by spamming my bulletin space every single day. If you start going on my nerves I might kick you out. Go play somewhere else.
If we don’t have much in common or if your profile is set on private, I will not add you at all when you didn't send a message beforehand telling me why you want to add me. There are a lot of weird people, stalkers and fake profiles and I just want to be sure that you are not one of them.
I'm not here for collecting bands, even when I love good music. Of course I will support bands I'm friends with or which belong to my favorites anyway. Please send a message if you want to be added for a good reason because I recently blocked band requests. (Just don't have enough time to check all the bands who send requests. And I would have a few thousand friends by now. Uhm. No thanx.)
