About Me

Twin sisters Natasha & Loretta front Brownmusic. Natasha & Loretta are of mixed heritage, their father coming from St. Lucia (West Indies), and their mother from London (England). They grew up seeing, experiencing and listening to the music of both white and black cultures, and naturally the music they now create is a reflection of both worlds. "Brownmusic is a sound and an identity. It stems from who we are expressed through the mixture that is in our culture and our voices of black meeting white. It’s not full-on Urban and it’s not Folk or Rock but in fact it has an element of all of those genres. We write our own songs and they are powerful, true and expressive. We believe we’ve got a unique sound and something new to offer the industry. We hope to take things all the way so look out for us!"

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: www.Brownmusic.co.uk
Band Members: Natasha & Loretta have worked as singers in various performing capacities for the past 10 years including session work, TV, live and tours working with artistes such as Lemar, Sting, Diana Ross and Will Young. Now they are proud to be launching their own project with their own material.Johann Ting brings his unusual and distinctive acoustic and electric guitar stylings to Brownmusic, as well as providing live backing vocals. Hailing from Malaysia and Perivale, he has experience in musical theatre, the London club scene, teaching and songwriting, and has worked with artists as diverse as Kirsty Crawford, Daniel Bedingfield, David Grant and Matt Redman.
Influences: Old Motown, Aretha Franklin, India Arie, Beverly Knight, KT Tunstall, Corrine Bailey Rae
Sounds Like: The girls say the band name and its meaning explains a lot about what they're all about and the kind of music they are producing. It's a mixture of both black & white music that reflects our influences while growing up and our mixed race heritage. Soulful vocals fused with acoustic rock flavours as well as folk and R&B flavours. Corinne Bailey Rae is probably the most current nearest marker to our sound.
Record Label: none as yet
