About Me

Greetings all! This page was created for those of us who admire the many talents of great singer, harper, guitar player, whistle player (and whatever other instrument he happens to pick up!)songwriter, poet, artist, bard, master storyteller...Robin Williamson. Robin himself has no hand in the running of this page though. Of course, most everyone familiar with Robin knows that he started out with the Incredible String Band, and since then has had an extremely prolific solo career, including the fine albums made with his Merry Band and others.Robin Williamson was born in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1943. He became a professional musician at he age of 16. He became friends with other notable musicians in the sixties, including Bert Jansch and Clive Palmer. He and Clive Palmer and Mike Heron formed the Incredible String Band and made one album. With a new line-up, the band continued for a few years. Later, after some solo work, Robin formed the Merry Band. Since the 1980's Robin has made a bewildering amount of albums, a large and fine body of material that is ever growing.Robin playing a tune called 'Young Girl Milking The Cow''Carrickfergus'Below are some videos of Robin Williamson and John Renbourn performing at Moseley Folk Festival, Birmingham from April 2007'Through The Horned Clouds''The Parting Glass'
