About Me

The Beavers - "Rock'n'Roll"

Talkin' about my favourite music
Rock'n'Roll it's got to be
for me there is no other music
Punkrock has the energy
Hasil Adkins and the Sonics
Mean Red Spiders, the Ramones
Supercharger and the Mummies
the early records of the Stones
Progressive Rock is not my bussines
dance clubs make me feel so sad
I rather hear thee Headcoats playing
modern music is so bad
I like the Gories and Girl Trouble
Phantom Surfers and Link Wray
Charlie Feathers, Sonny Burgess
Rock'n'Roll that's what I say
(Supercharger solooooo....)
Larry Williams, Little Richard
Esquerita, Jimy Reed
Lust-O-Rama and the Lyres
Rock'n'Roll that's what I need
(the Beavers - Rock'n'Roll)
Goody goody gumdrops! the Beavers are back with a new line-up and a fresh set of wild rocking garage tunes!

History

In the early nineties the Beavers spearheaded a wave of Dutch sixties garage bands. They released their first 7" single - "Nancy, You're a square" on the legendary Kogar Records Label. Produced by Mike Mariconda (Devil Dogs) the fuzzy sound of this single still is a benchmark for a lot of garage trash bands and was proclaimed "best Dutch single ever" by the famous "Grunnen Rocks" site.

The Beavers prooved they could deliver the goods without Mike Mariconda with their second (split)single "RocknRoll" (together with Gaunt ) on the Belgian "Demolition Derby" label. Again with a roaring sound this time produced by Paul Carrière (the Beavers' organ player). What makes the Beavers stand out is that typical sound reminiscing the "Pebbles"and "Back from the grave" songs, but with the beavers they are all originals written by themselves!

And then..

In 2005 singer/guitarist Titus (lately active in the Firebirds) runs into old buddy Paul at a concert and they decide to re-form the Beavers. By recruiting bassplayer Harold (the Stiffs, the Cheating Hearts) and drummer Jack (the Waistcoats) they find the right guys to get that raw Beavers sound going again. Late 2005 the guys start rehearsing and the chemistry is there right from the word go. It doesn't take the band more then 3 months to conceive and record a fresh batch of new songs at their local studio.

A vinyl single

june 2006 "High School Refuse" records releases a 7" vinyl single with three brand new songs: "I'm on no one's side" is the A-side, "DAF66" and "Scared to death" are on the b-side. A lot of positive reviews bolster the determination they are yet again on the right track and after playing the Primitive Festival in Rotterdam new songs are written and rehearsed.

And now

Meanwhile the band plays the occasional gig (feel free to contact the band) and frontman Titus becomes a father yet again in february 2007. In 2008 the beavers hit the studio to record a couple of their new songs.
