Originally hitting the air as KUBO in 1981, KHDC was created in 1988 when the California Human Development Corp purchased the station from it's previous owners. Ever since it's birth, KHDC has been a vital outlet for community issues and the wide variety of musical tastes among it's Central Coast listeners. Ranging from the traditional music of Mexico to the regional favorites of the Southwest on to the popular Spanish Rock as well as English favorites Hip Hop, Freestyle, Oldies, and House music KHDC continues to be a solid and trusted friend to the local community. KHDC is a public radio station whose on air staff changes every two hours. If you are calling in to request a Hip Hop song, do not call during the Spanish Rock show or if you are calling for an Oldies request, do not call in during the Reggae show. KHDC's signal covers a 100 mile radius of Central Cali from just south of Gilroy to just north of Paso Robles. Also, the signal hits coastal cities such as Monterey, Marina, Seaside, and Santa Cruz.
