Doug Ross

About Me

Veteran Los Angeles bassist and L.A. Music Academy instructor Doug Ross has released his debut album album as a leader on Egad records. Drawing on a freelance career performing with artists as diverse as jazz pianist Ron Kobayashi, Motown singer Martha Reeves, and Brazilian phenomenon Katia Moraes and Sambaguru, Doug has enlisted two dozen of L.A.'s most talented studio musicians for a broad range of vocal and instrumental tracks. The album has evoked comparisons to Tower of Power funk, Bill Evans Trio jazz, even anthemic rock on the instrumental closing number (featuring Otmaro Ruiz and the amazing Brett Garsed on guitar). Of course, Doug's bass playing gets to shine as well, both in a groove context and also in several solo bass interludes. Doug's album can be purchased on his website: dougross.net or from Abstract Logix or downloaded from iTunes. If you like what you hear, Doug is also available to record great sounding bass tracks at reasonable rates for your project from his home studio. Feel free to contact Doug directly to inquire about gigs or recording sessions.
