I have a rather eclectic array of skills acquired over the years.I began crocheting as a child making afghans with my mother. She was also a fine tailor and first taught me to sew Barbie clothes. As I grew older, my artistic interests continued to develop, so I pursued art as a major in college. I studied all media including pottery, fibre arts, photography, drawing, painting, composition, design, jewelry, and scupture. My concentration evolved into printmaking, mainly serigraphy, but also etching and lithography. After graduation, I began my Master's degree at the University of Pittsburgh in Art History with the goal of becoming a conservationist. I dreamt of spending a lifetime cleaning and preserving treasures, but it was not to be.I started down a different road to build another career and life. I have continued to dabble in pottery, bought 2 knitting machines, continued to sew and crochet, and learned lampwork beadmaking and jewelry techniques at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts.
I guess you can tell, I have this intense need to make things all the time. I feel as if there are not enough hours in the day, nor years in my life to accomplish everything. All this while working fulltime at a non-artistic job.
Although I live in the city, someday I will return to the country and grow my herbs and vegetables and flowers for the final years of my life, peaceful and content.Whatever I do, I can say I did it myself. I'm ALL about handmade!
