A Once Promising Oblivion
Breathless. Exausted.
Your decisions have led you
to places you never wanted to go.
You turn around and everything
is unfamiliar.
"How did I ever get here?" you ask.
As if something had carried you
into a coma.
You were sleeping, pleasantly at first.
But now, all the lovely places and faces
have turned into dreary darkness
and daunting, shadowy facades.
What was once a wondrous alternative
to your former state
has now become the essence
of adversarial heaviness.
Tricked. Fooled.
Deceived into believing a beautiful lie.
Now you're in the midst of a reality
that was never your fate to begin with.
The past can't be changed.
Ahhh.....
But, the future can!
Now coherent, you recall truths
you once scoffed at
because they appeared
to be your enemies.
But, presently they seem to be
your only friends.
Knowing that the consequences
will linger,
bravely you face the door
that appears before you.
The knob is cold to the touch
but the warmth of the sunlight
on your face, as you submerge
from the dusty darkness,
gradually carresses away
the tension that once
dominated your being.
You are free.

"Simply because you can..t put your hands around something doesn..t mean it’s not there. In fact, those things that are most precious to us are the things that are invisible, aren..t they? Love, tenderness, happiness, air, feelings, emotions – those things we cannot touch, but they are very real. And so it is with God’s power: it may not be touchable, but it’s real and it’s obtainable." -Max Lucado
"The Christian faith is faith IN Christ. Its value or worth is not in the one believing, but in the One believed - not in the one trusting, but in the One trusted. You see, it doesn't matter how much faith you have, but rather who is the object of your faith; that is important from the Christian perspective of faith." -Josh McDowell
