Tomhet began in the winter of 2004, as a one-man Canadian Black Metal act. Once 2005 came around, there were two Tomhet demos completed and given to friends only. From Spring to Autumn, 'Captive in Reality' was recorded. It originally had 16 songs. For the final cut, Xaphan (now known by his real name, Jonathan) deleted nine, and the seven song demo was released by Clovenhoof Productions in October of 2006. It was limited to 100 copies.
In 2007, Xaphan moved from Canada to California. Before the move, he had recorded an experimental demo consisting of minute long ambient tracks. This was simply called 'Tomhet'. Shortly after its release by Clovenhoof Productions, Xaphan recorded songs for a Split with Breath of Chaos. On July 14th it was unleashed by Philosophical Sepulchers Productions, limited to 66 copies.
Now, 2008, Jonathan has transformed Tomhet into a Dark Ambient/Black Metal band. During the winter of 2007/2008, A Dark Serenity was recorded. Nokturnal Transmissions Records will be releasing it on Pro CD in March, and on Cassette by Lafawijn Records. On July 21st, Gelid Glacier Records and Kapustin Yar Records split released the Tomhet/Zebulon Kosted "Northern Horizons" Pro CD, which was limited to 100 copies. A split with Temeluchus was planned for a release in early 2007 by Dipsomaniac Records, but we lost contact with the label. After many tracklist changes, the split CD was finally released by Nokturnal Transmissions Records on August 12th limited to 66 copies.
A split with Skagos titled "Himmelszelt" has been recorded and will be released by Woodsmoke Records on tape limited to 300 copies in November (approx.)
Jon recently completed a new full length album called "En Hiver". It will be released by Gelid Glacier Records limited to 200 copies on CD. It'll also be released by Kapustin Yar Records on cassette limited to 30 copies.
