Our Friend The Atom

Colchester On Friday Night's a Shame

About Me

"Colchesters Our Friend the Atom came together in two thirds of a garage in the Autumn of 2005. After months of settling down and working out what it was they wanted to do, swapping instruments, and members and records, they have developed some kind of sound of their own. Taking the basic foundations of post-rocks soft slow build into epic ambition and throwing it back into song writing and more traditional forms of loud fast rock, Our Friend the Atom sit shouty punk alongside pretty folk lullabies, stoner blues riffage against radio pop, and hardcores anxious discordance within raw psychedelia. The dual vocals a low stuttered moan in competition with an incessant bleat throw counter-melodies against the wail of the violin whilst drums tumble heroically behind the clash of effects-drenched hacksaw guitars and shit-beaten bass splutter.Having played a bunch of shows with all manner of different line-ups in the first few months of their existence, Our Friend the Atom will be spending the summer playing as many shows as possible across the country. They plan to record a collection of songs in the same low-budget sessions in the Essex wilderness as Sleepmachines sometime in July or August. Their intention is releasing and possibly touring the record sometime in the future."Our Friend the Atom are a part of the Fiddler Crab Music Collective - East Anglia's finest purveyors of clam rock.
