The Fungus Project

About Me

The Fungus Project is…DJ Erm aka Ermis A. Georgiadis (for the police, the bank and his boss) along with all the friends who shared their voices or musical abilities to keep the flame of happy music alive.DJ Erm was born in Paris in the summer of 1978 and is a resident of Athens, Greece. During the last 12 years he is trying to fool everyone that he knows how to play the piano, the guitar, the bass and the harmonica. In order to achieve this goal, he learned how to use a computer sequencer and by putting it all together he made his first track in 1993. While finishing his BSc in Molecular Biology he was introduced to the wonderful world of fungi both by the Microbiology course and his flatmate’s oranges left in the cupboard for two months. So, he decided to form a symbiotic music organism which fused elements from anything phunky he could put his hands on. As a result, the Fungus Project was conceptualized one lonely evening of year 2K, in Colchester, Essex, UK.As DJ Erm stated in a recent impromptu home video interview "The Fungus Project is a personal diary of my years abroad and of those to come. It depicts my inquisitive excursions to the colorful world of music together with whoever wants to join the ride." This statement led to the acquisition of his first Granny Award for the Boring Statement Of The Year gaining national acclaim as the ultimate nerd (that leads the herd). In order to fight worldwide unacceptance as a social parasite, DJ Erm is currently employed in a prime-time morning job (...YAWN) in order to provide himself the necessary delicatessen, trappist beers and the odd cocktail to severely punish his liver. Meanwhile, he continues to record and remix notoriously unknown songs using obsolete equipment. Following requests from his ever-growing loyal fan base, DJ Erm tries to formulate something like a band in order to start performing live. We accept any donation. Send your something to [email protected] and don't wait for an answer. Usually we laugh sarcastically and then we go for fishing...Nice day today, isn't it?...

Sounds Like: ...a new experimental movement into the world of electronica, being so bluesy and funky that its jazz roots appear somewhat superseded. Some fans will be disappointed by discovering that the hip hop element is more pronounced over reggae and Brazilian drum 'n' bass and others will be amazed to find that rembetiko meets rock and 70's soul in a trip hop environment while flirting with some kinky acid jazz textures. You can simply call it Hip Happy.
Record Label: ...still looking for a label madder than me!
