About Me

Usual story; musical family, doesn't give you a choice of career. Started on the drums then gave up when my brother got better than me. Tried my hand at bass age 11 and stayed there. I've been listening and trying to play jazz for ages now but I wasn't taught formally until I was 16 and in college. In 2003 I managed to get into Leeds College of Music on the BA Jazz Studies course and was lucky enough to be able to study along side and play with some of the finest players I've ever heard, most of which happen to be modern jazz players, and I guess that's where I've ended up. I'm also exercising my rock gland in a lovely band called Red Paper Dragon, who have recently managed to get onto a label called Sound Devastation. Both the band and the label have a myspace page and a website which definately need to be checked out as we're on the brink of releasing our long awaited debut e.p. Songs of Innocence. It's been a long time in the making but we didn't want to let it go until it's ready. The wait has been worth it, it's one of our greatest acheivements to date.My main musical interest lies in improvised music, mainly jazz and rock based. I love to see musicians experimenting and trying to evolve constantly, and I like to envolve as many artistic movements into my music as possible, through the people I play with, to the graphic scores I create and by learning different styles of music. Except country. And pop.I have now finished my degree and I'm looking to start teaching bass guitar and music theory, so if you're in the Exeter area and you're looking for lessons in either of these areas send me a message/comment and I'll get back to you. I'm also working on a bit of home recording in order to get some more music up on this long-deserted page. Although I'm not in a jazz band at the moment (hint hint) so it may end up being as abstract as Noomblattlegontiah. Hopefully not, but we'll see.

I made my myspace layout using Pimp-My-Profile.com

Noomblattlegontiah

I've just recorded two versions of my graphic score 'Noomblattlegontiah'. They are both very similar but there are subtle differences. The first is a bit busier but the second works better musically. ...
