About Me

visit my non-profit project: A Vehicle for Change and buy a t-shirt or something. Thanks!

Raised in a little town in New Jersey called Lodi. (Yes, that same town as the Misfits) My family name is Tamburo, which literally means "drum" in Italian - but because I used to wear a lot of black clothes (hey, that's what musicians do) some friends started calling me "Mari Mack", and it 'stuck"...so, for over twenty years, most people who know me as a singer, know me as "Mari Mack"
Grew up listening and singing to my dad's jazz and big band music minus one records/old school karaoke until my siblings' musical preferences crept into my brain - a mixture of rock and soul - I discovered the blues when I realized that my favorite Zeppelin tunes were really blues covers. So I guess you could say that my heart and soul leans towards what I guess American Roots music - blues, jazz, soul and funk - got to groove me to move me....
