I am here for Friends

About Me

If everyone was the same, I'd be bored as hell with the lot of you! I myself am a chameleon. The only constant *is* change, so embrace it.

I like the stylish moves of OK Go.

I haven't laughed this hard at a commercial in ages.

My Interests

Social justice; Cultural pluralism; Vegetarianism; Hiking; Biking; Skiing; Outdoorsy granola stuff. Movies; Music; Dancing; Yoga; Meditation; Travel; Philosophy; Neuropsychology; Other people's art.

I'd like to meet:

Seekers, sages, mages, creators. Down to earth folks who have something to talk about.

Music:

Basically: I like drums; I like bass. A sweet guitar riff is a summer day floating down a river. Soulful piano jams: mmm, mmm good. Drum-n-Bass from big phat bass to jazzy dnb. Tango. Flamenco. Blues. Funk. Punk. Ska. Classical. Your average spectrum of alternative/indie rock. Ani DiFranco, Death Cab for Cutie, G. Love & Special Sauce, Blackalicious, Basement Jaxx, Beth Orton, Billy Holliday, Bright Eyes, Charlie Parker, David Bowie, Dieselboy, Dirty Vegas, Ella Fitzgerald, Elvis Costello, Etta James, Fleetwood Mac, The Killers, OK Go, The Police, Photek, P-18, The Shins, Single Gun Theory, Stevie Wonder, String Cheese Incident, Taj Mahal, Talvin Singh, Tom Waits, Travis, Van Morrison, U2, Underworld, Wilco, Zero7, Zuco 103. Anything that I haven't heard in a long time.

Did I say I was ecclectic?

Movies:

I like many independent films. Documentaries, too. Comedies, yeah make me laugh anyday! Thrillers are good. I like getting scared, too.

Television:

Six Feet Under. Lost. House. PBS - Yeah, I don't have cable. It's probably for the best. Television can be an educational tool, just hopefully not the ONLY educational tool. Supplement, people!

Books:

I like: Milan Kundera, Barbara Kingsolver, Tom Robbins, Jane Hamilton, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Toni Morrison, John Steinbeck, Ernest Hemingway, Richard Bach, Emily Dickinson, Alice Walker, Margaret Atwood, Aldous Huxley, Shakespeare, Thoreau, Simone deBeauvoir, Sartre, Viktor Frankl, Joseph Campbell, e.e. cummings, Rumi, Emmerson, Walt Whitman, Maya Angelou, Stephen Levine, Bill Bryson.

Heroes:

My Mom! Nelson Mandela. Jimmy Carter. Simone deBeauvoir. Betty Friedan. Jean Baker Miller. Martin Luther King, Jr. The Dalai Lama. Tommy the Clown. Native peoples across the globe who are struggling to break free of Western domination. Teachers! Tree huggers.
