Back in the year 2002, Jochen Kinner, who only played the guitar at that time, and Malte Linder decided to find some people and found a band.
Searching for members, they became aware of Artur Weintritt, who turned out to be a guitar player willing to join. Not much time was needed to decide that he would be perfect to take this part. Therefore Jochen Kinner changed from guitar to bass to allow Artur to join the band.
Although searching for a singer, their friend Dominik Kronen decided to learn to play the keys and somehow made his way into the band, even though the instrument was not really planned to be played.
However, the quest for a singer was finished when Tim Hausmann took the chance to face this task.
After the line-up was set, there was the need to find a suiting name for the band. Many suggestions were made but everyone thought Graveyard to be the most fitting.
So all preparations were made and one by one the members started to buy their equipment. On the 24th of November 2003, the band had their first session. However, only Artur Weintritt, Jochen Kinner and Malte Linder were involved that day. The song Zombie was chosen as a song appropriate to be played together.
But the band was not satisfied with playing cover songs all the time for long, and therefore, only a month later, the song When The Funeral Begins was developed (30.12.2003). Two days later the band could also be proud of the battle hymn Warriors, which is quite famous among their fans nowadays.
On the 6th of July 2004, Graveyard had a session with six members for the first time. The need for a second guitar player was pretty obvious. As the session turned out to be very productive, Marc Wallrafen was welcomed heartily.
In the end of year 2004, the band could show enough songs to be able to record a first album. This very record is produced in Graveyards homemade studio is finished. Graveyard presented the album "When the Funeral Begins" on 21th October 2006 in the KFZ in Duisburg, Homberg.
