About Me

This profile was edited with Skize Editor
A Dingwallian, a Shetlander, an Inversneckian and a wee boy from Strathpeffer walked to Alness and found a music college, so they brought out their instruments (vocals, fiddles and guitar) over a box of Chips and Cheese and a coconut and started a wee tune...
Kerrie Finlay (Vocals), Eilidh Scammell (Fiddle, Vocals) and Dana Jamieson (Fiddle) live in Layby 69. Based in the Inverness / Dingwall area the band came together at North Highland College in Alness in February 2006 and made their debut performance in the Gaelic concert at the Inverness Beltane Festival in April 2006.
Past members include; Matheu Watson , they're original guitarist from Strathpeffer who moved to Uist to live in a thatched cottage by the sea and Robert Taylor from Dingwall.
Combining traditional Gaelic song with both traditional and contemporary music from Shetland, Cape Breton and Scotland, Layby 69 have been described as Shetland Meets the West Coast with their ringing strings, and powerful vocals.
With two Gaelic speakers in the band their knowledge of the connections between the language and the music has helped them put their own stamp on the tradition.
Layby 69 are currently looking for a new guitarist so if you are a guitarist, like our stuff and like playing in different time signatures or know of someone who fits this description give us a shout. :)
