About Me

On June 10th of 1983, Laura Michael arrived onto this Earth. She spent the first five years of her life in North Miami Beach, Florida. Before the time she could speak she would sing, and before the age of two she became acquainted with her passion for the piano. Shortly after, she and her family moved to Israel, where along with exploring her many talents she spent her time envisioning the fulfillment of her destiny through becoming a music legend. Laura was always exploring her creativity, and in years to come she taught herself how to play piano by ear. This, along with her first attempt at songwriting, took place at the tender age of seven. It was also around this time that Laura discovered her love of dance and being in the spotlight. At home, she sang in every spare minute, played dress up in costumes, and put on shows for all of the family gatherings. Outside of the house, she excelled in gymnastics and dance classes. Over the next few years, these skills were further developed and her piano-playing was fine-tuned to where she could play just about any song she pleased. Laura has always shot to be none less than the very best.Beginning at home, with her mother's European-American Catholic background and her father being an Iraqi Jew raised in Israel, cultural diversity is very much a part of her. After four years of living in Israel she and her family moved back to Florida, this time to Boca Raton. Moving never phased her though, as her home was never in a place but in her family. Being one of eight children, Laura always had a strong foundation of love and support at home. This was soon to shift though, as her parents divorce undermined her entire reality. As this was happening, another world was opening up to her: she fell in love for the first time. This gave her an escape to happiness and good amidst all the chaos that became home. What she didn't know though, was that this world was soon to shatter, leaving heartbreak to flood her being. Thirteen year old Laura was forced on an inner journey to find home within herself. So in the black of her spiritual night, with a pen as her horse and paper as her carriage, off she went following the North Star of her heart; God. Songwriting now poured her talent onto paper, while music and the dance floor became her favorite outlets and her only true "high"s. At age fifteen she moved to New York, where she got her first shot at recording with a family friend on his 4-track. It wasn't much, but it was enough to make her hungry for more. She lived in New York for five short months before moving back to Boca Raton, Florida, to finish high school. In Florida, Laura resumed dance classes and began taking vocal coaching, as she is ever striving to sharpen her skills. In 2000, she got another shot at recording with a family friend on his home equipment. It was only in 2001 though, that she got to record in a real studio for the first time. There, at age 17, she recorded "Goodbye", in which she expresses her realization of being in a relationship which is no longer good for her, and making the necessary changes to get out of it. The track has somewhat of a pop/hip-hop sound due to the co-production of it with the studio producer. ”Hold Me” is a very simply recorded acoustic track with a soul feel, and carries the message of lovers to hold onto each other through life’s tough times. She wrote this song when she was just 15, but its wisdom touches hearts through the ages. Next, she recorded a song called "Choose Your Fate," which she wrote in May of 2001. Ironically, after September 11th of that year, the song became all the more appropriate. It was inspired by a prophecy in the bible and the growing turmoil between the Israeli Jews and the Arab Nations. The production was aimed to be unique and awakening, as are the lyrics, and was produced by her and friend/producer, "Izzy" Israel Deveaux. With this song Laura hopes to bring people back to God and the good, before the prophecy beats them to it. Soon-after, Laura and Izzy got to working on another song called “Flip The Station”. This song Laura wrote in 2000 and it conveys the importance a positive outlook and realizing your own worth through difficult times in love. This track has more of a club feel, where the high energy beat matches the powerful lyrics. In 2004 Laura recorded “Loyal”, where she got to explore production a bit more than usual. She produced it almost fully by her self with the guidance of the home-studio engineer/producer where it was recorded. She wrote this song upon arriving at a new frontier of love, and shares her view."Change In Me" is a song Laura wrote when she was 16, which conveys the importance of keeping in touch with ones inner truth, and how imperative growth is to overall well-being. Seeing how personal happiness is ones own responsibility, she takes the listener on that journey with her. The track was produced entirely by Laura, and is very basic; with only her voice and her piano playing. The recording was on a very small budget of time and was only intended to be a little gift to her father. This was his favorite of her songs, and with her moving out on her own, she wouldn’t be there to play and sing it for him live as usual. Laura’s latest recording is her song “Taken”, which is a sweet love acoustic love song with a lot of soul and a new level of maturity as she just recorded it in April of 2008. For experimentation purposes, she plays guitar in it herself. When she’s not recording her own songs, Laura is in and out of the studio recording vocals for other artists’ songs, and collaborating. Through her music she strives to inspire people onto their own inner journeys, hoping to bring them closer to truth and their heart, and inadvertently elevate humanity. real editor best profile tools real editor best profile tools
