The Hi-Aces

About Me

At long last, April 12th 2008 sees the debut release of Wellington country-rockers The Hi-Aces, with the unveiling of their EP “Nowhere Fast”.
They’ve come a long way in their four year existence; from drunken party sing-a-longs in their private homes….to sing-a-longs for drunken partiers in public bars. But hey, isn’t that what country music’s all about? Honky tonkin’ your troubles away, kicking up your heels and forgetting the workaday world, only to find yourself regretting the fool you’ve made of yourself in the process.
That said, these guys are no fools. They know the value of a memorable tune, the joy of a sweet harmony, the power of a driving rhythm, the merit of a wry tale of woe.
In the spirit of the great country rockers Gram Parsons and Neil Young they present to you this - a sample of their back catalogue of hidden treasures and rough diamonds, committed finally to the rare earth of CD. Five songs of loss, longing and regret. A celebration of their combined love of a good song. Something for anybody who’s experienced life in all its glorious imperfection, in any state of intoxication or sobriety.
A while in the making, but then, what’s the hurry? As the saying goes, good things come to those who wait. Now all that remains to be said is…it’s about time!

Recording this weekend

This weekend we're laying down seven or eight tracks to analog tape. The idea is to shortly produce a few recordings that sound better than the dodgey live recordings that are on hear at the moment. I...
