Hopin' & Prayin' - Buy Now!

About Me

Originally from East Grand Forks, Minnesota, Matthew Damico grew up in a home of musicians. He was raised hearing everything from Stevie Wonder to George Gershwin, and Mozart to The Beatles. He started playing the piano when he was 7, an instrument he still plays today. It was around that same time that Damico began singing in church. When he was 10 years old he picked up the trumpet and in high school began playing the guitar. Having the ability to play multiple instruments has given Damico a versatility in his song-writing and influences that helps separate him from other song-writers.
In high school Damico and friend Nicholas Hagen began to perform old swing tunes and other covers together, with Damico playing piano and singing, and Hagen playing trombone - which he still does at the Juilliard School of Music in New York City.
Damico began going to school at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and it was there when he began to focus on his guitar playing and song-writing. He then found himself playing in venues on campus and in the Twin Cities area. In 2006 he was given an opportunity to record some of his music at Rattus rattus Audio in St. Paul, MN. The album, "Hopin' & Prayin'" is now available and has already been drawing attention from fans.
