Let me first start off saying that I've been very blessed so far and hopefully I will continue to receive blessings from God. The reason I say that is because I was born in poverty but never used that as an excuse or let that hold me back. I had family members say that I wouldn't be anything because I was born in the projects (Kelly Courts in Houston's infamous 5th ward) :) But now I have a Master's Degree in Athletic Administration from Idaho State, Bachelor's Degree in Finance from Idaho State, and 2 Associate Degrees from Midland College with 2 NJCAA National Championships. I'm going into my 5th year as a Coach (teacher)at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. At Midland College in West Texas, we finished as the 2007 National Junior College Athletic Associations NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!! From 2004-06, I was an assistant coach at the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith where we won 62 games and lost 7 in 2 years. We won the 2006 National Junior College Athletic Associations NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP with a school record of 33-3. There are two people that I watched (and still do watch) that helped me understand that there is more to life than the hood: my pops and my childhood friend Rashard Lewis. My Pops, Alvin Brooks Jr., who is now employed at University of Kentucky(Former University of Houston Head Coach) and Rashard Lewis, a NBA All-Star, who plays for the NBA Orlando Magic. If you want to know more about me, please ask.
