Washington D.C.'s THE SCARE raises DC's fast-punk scene from the grave, extolling the somnambulant with five fast horrific anthems. With melodic and aggressive hooks, THE SCARE are not only the stake which drives through the heart of monotonous emo-metal that threatens to plague subculture, but also is the dark revulsion responding to horrors of the now. With haunting choruses and sing-a-longs, their live show beckons an energy not easily resisted. Veterans to the game, having toured the world with their previous bands (Good Clean Fun, Affront, The Goons), playing with some of the greatest bands (AFI, Converge, Dillinger Escape Plan, the Nerve Agents, American Nightmare, et al), THE SCARE recorded at Black House studios in Landover, MD, owned by Ken Olden (Better than a Thousand, Battery, Damnation AD) and Issa Diao (Good Clean Fun), in the summer of 2005.
Their debut release, "Snakes among Saints" speaks volumes of the range of their influences, with dark, hostile tracks such as "Hellcoil", and fast catchy riffs, like in "Full Moons", which hearken back to old Danzig and TSOL. With captivating choruses, sing-alongs and lyrics that go for the throat, THE SCARE are taking the streets by storm, one soul at a time. Orchestrated with vivid artwork befitting their vivacious tones, "Snakes Among Saints" paints a perfect portrait of their craft. THE SCARE are menacing the dark alleys of subculture, city by city, show by show.
Get out the thorny branches of wild roses, and adorn your windows with garlic.....something wicked this way comes.
